Check out what's on at your local branch this January. We have lots of fun free activities at our branches for School Holidays and of course all of our branches have free wifi, computers and gaming. Don't forget to RSVP for our events as places are limited. Summer Reading club is in full swing at the Upper Hunter Regional Library branches and the Upper Hunter Shire Library branches so be sure to register and get reading to win some fantastic prizes.

It's that time of year where we invite our junior members to get reading by joining our Summer Reading Club. During December and January our branches have two programs running; one at the Upper Hunter Regional Library (Muswellbrook and Denman Libraries) and one at the Upper Hunter Shire Libraries (Aberdeen, Cassilis, Merriwa, Murrurundi and Scone Libraries). Members are welcomed to register for one or both of these programs as there is lots of fun to be had and prizes to be won for little readers. This is a FREE program aimed at encouraging our young members to get reading and explore the library.

Join Teddy the Bee at the Upper Hunter Regional Library this Summer and Bee Creative – read, write and play at our branches with lots of fun, free activities and register for our Summer Reading Club for access to lots of fun events, creative challenges and great prizes. To get started visit one of branches to create your avatar and get a bag full of goodies.

Join:Joining is easy, sign up for your free library membership at your closest Upper Hunter Library Network branch, then visit us at Muswellbrook or Denman library to receive your Bee-Creative starter pack. You will receive a cool library bag with everything you need to get started on your Summer Reading Club adventure.

Read:
When you join  the club, you will receive a tally sheet with reading goals. For each five books that you read you will receive a new avatar and a ticket into our prize draw. Prizes will be drawn at the close of the Summer Reading Club

Create:
Throughout the month of January, we will be running multiple events and creative challenges so be sure to follow us on Facebook or our website to keep up to date.

The Upper Hunter Shire libraries including Aberdeen, Cassilis, Merriwa, Murrurundi & Scone branches invite all members aged 0-18 years to join our Summer Reading Club and read to win! This years theme is Wondrous Wildlife so we invite you to crawl, hop and run into your closest branch and register to get started.

The Upper Hunter Shire Libraries Summer Reading Club commences on the 2nd December 2019 and ends on the 17th January 2020. Winners will be announced on the 24th January 2020.

How to Register:
Library members aged 0-18years can register for the club at one of our five branches in Aberdeen, Cassilis, Merriwa, Murrurundi or Scone. Parents are also encouraged to enter, although no prizes will be given. Not a member? Visit Library and sign up for a free library membership.

How it works:
When you register for the Summer reading club, you will receive your reading passport. Each book that you read and then returns earns one stamp. The more you read the more chances you will have to win prizes to be awarded at each branch.

More information:

Children must read books appropriate for their age. Books may be read independently or parent-to-child.
Pre-school and Infants aged children may read a book more than once.
Pre-school and Infants aged children may count books read with a parent or independently.
Children may count audio books as books read.

The branches of the Upper Hunter Library Network including Aberdeen, Cassilis, Denman, Merriwa, Murrurundi, Muswellbrook and Scone will be closed over the Christmas period. See below details of closure dates for each branch. If you have any questions regarding this closure or would like your items renewed over the Christmas closure please contact us.

Murrurundi Library is hosting two Christmas craft programs for Children and Adults this December and you are invited!

Commencing the 24th October 2019, Muswellbrook Library will now be open until 7pm on Thursday nights.

GamingDid you know your local library is set up for gaming? Our branches have a selection of PS4, XBOX, Wii and virtual reality gaming set ups available for use in branch by library members.

Experience virtual reality at Muswellbrook and Denman branch by becoming a member. VR is an experience that can’t be described accurately. Why not try it out at Muswellbrook & Denman Libraries yourself. Bring a friend or challenge Mum & Dad! VR Gamers must be a member and must be over the age of 13 years.

Did you know we run FREE weekly story time sessions here at the Library? Baby Rhyme Time and Story Time sessions for older children are run regularly at the Muswellbrook, Scone, Denman, Murrurundi and Merriwa Libraries.
