Come along to Scone Library this month to see Award winning naturalist and author Terry Dominco as he talks about his book, 'The Great Cactus War' and the world's greatest plant invasion.

Terry Dominco

Intensively researched over a 5-year period, from eyewitness accounts to dusty outback museums, this is an amazing chronicle of an introduced seemingly innocent cactus that nearly conquered our continent.

Imagine a sea of prickly-pear cactus up to thirty feet high covering a region larger than Italy, spreading at an alarming million-plus acres a year.

Thousands of Australians were driven out of their homes and off the land. Digging, burning, smashing and poisoning this green monster had little effect.

How did rural Australia finally get on top of this beast, and was it worth it?

Where: Scone Library, 135 Liverpool Steet Scone
When: Tuesday, 26th March 2019 @ 4:00pm

Mr Dominco will have his book available for sale and signings. Afternoon tea will be provided. Please contact us on 6540-1183 to book as bookings are essential for seating and catering.
